The highly anticipated White Elephant Aspen just opened today.
As an expansion of the White Elephant Resorts brand, the Colorado property joins White Elephant Nantucket and White Elephant Palm Beach in the luxury space. The new hotel is located on the corner of Main Street and Garmisch Street in Aspen, offering guests prime access to Aspen’s West End neighborhood and downtown.
“Expanding to Aspen marks an exciting new chapter for White Elephant Resorts,” said Douglass E. Karp, president at New England Development, owner of White Elephant Resorts. ”Our vision has always been to create hotels that capture the spirit of the destination. With its rich cultural heritage and dynamic year-round energy, Aspen provides the ideal backdrop for bringing our legacy of thoughtful hospitality to the American West. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience our signature warmth and style in the mountains.”

White Elephant Aspen features 54 hotel rooms and suites, several with outdoor private terraces or balconies. The top suites sport two to three bedrooms and a range of amenities, from a chef’s kitchen to fireplaces to a dedicated games library. The hotel also has a year-round heated pool, two hot tubs, restaurants, and a wellness recovery studio.
Throughout the guestrooms, suites, and common areas, art is a central theme, with 125 original works adorning the spaces. One highlight is the rotating photography exhibit in the lobby. Guests can take self-guided art tours of the landscape paintings, drawings, Pop Art-inspired work, and more throughout the hotel.
Certain White Elephant staples remain at this new property, including the brand’s long-standing partnership with BMW, which provides guests with complimentary airport transfers and courtesy cars. There are also pet-friendly rooms, like at other White Elephant resorts.
For dining, White Elephant’s signature restaurant, LoLa 41°, debuts in the West with its usual seafood and sushi specials, as well as offering breakfast. This location also has a new speakeasy concept.
For activities, White Elephant Aspen will offer exclusive winter experiences, including before-hour ski runs on Aspen Mountain, private snowcat backcountry tours through Aspen Powder Tours, winter fly fishing on Roaring Fork River, and snowmobile rides to Maroon Bells.
In the summer, guests can enjoy gondola picnics, yoga at 11,000 feet above sea level, and touring the Smuggle Mine, home of the largest silver nugget ever mined, as well as priority tee times at three local golf courses.
