Hawaii’s Westin Hapuna Beach Resort Debuts New Look

Hawaii’s Westin Hapuna Beach Resort Debuts New Look

The renovation and rebranding focus on a connection to nature to enhance well-being, as well as four new dining options.

The former Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on Hawaii’s Big Island was transformed following a $46 million renovation, reopening under the Westin Hotels & Resorts flag.

Renamed the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, the property was given a top-to-bottom makeover, including everything from upgrading the 232 guestrooms to the addition of an adults-only infinity pool and two new fitness studios.

Under the Westin Hotels & Resorts rebranding, the resort focuses on a connection to nature to enhance well-being. A renovated lobby area displays island flora and fauna on a custom living wall and vertical garden; and is decorated with wood, metal and glass accents and earth-toned furniture. The space boasts curved staircases and a rotunda ceiling, and terraced gardens, leading out to the beach.

The project also included four new dining options: Meridia, a high-end restaurant with Mediterranean-style dishes; Ikena Landing, an open-air breakfast venue; Naupaka Beach Grill, which serves as casual dining choice for lunch; and Piko + Coffee Bar, an eatery offering 100 percent Kona coffee and light snacks.

Most guestrooms boast an ocean view.

The Big Island resort ushers in “a new wave of island luxury, furthering the Kohala Coast’s status as a sought-after destination,” according to Brian Povinelli, senior vice president and global brand leader at Westin Hotels & Resorts.

The property is the Westin’s first on the island, though sixth in the state. It joins Moana Surfrider on Waikiki Beach on Oahu; The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort & Villas and The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, Kaanapali on Maui; and The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas on Kauai.
