“I Have Never Missed a Show”- Mike Allard on the Impact of TMP Events

“I Have Never Missed a Show”- Mike Allard on the Impact of TMP Events

Planning for the 2026 Travel Market Place (TMP) events in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary is underway which will see Montreal join the schedule for the very first time!

We spoke with suppliers after our events, and now it’s time to hand the mic to the travel advisors who attended. After all, success is a group effort and we wanted to share what they learned at our TMP events and how important they think the events are to fellow advisors.

We spoke with Mike Allard, of Mallard Travel to get his thoughts on TMP.

TravelMarket Report Canada: How important is it for you to participate in the TMP events across Canada?

Allard: “TMP is a truly wonderful example of community over competition.  Whether you are in an agency or an IC, full time or part time, TMP offers each of us the opportunity come together to learn, network and grow all of which have tremendous benefits personally and professionally.   While there are often smaller opportunities to connect with suppliers throughout the year, few, if any, are on the scale of a TMP.

Tell us about the quality of Suppliers you are seeing at the events?

“With very few exceptions, all the major players are there, easily accessible under one roof; it could not be easier!   And year after year I discover new suppliers at TMP events that can help foster new business opportunities in areas I may have not considered.  I appreciate the opportunity to connect face to face with many of the suppliers I deal with on a recurring or even occasional basis.   A successful agent knows the value, and power, of building great relationships with our clients, peers AND our suppliers and attending and engaging at a TMP event is an excellent way to develop and build on the peer and supplier side of those vitally important relationships that drive success.”

What are you most impressed by about the TMP events?

“That these events are professional,  highly organized, have a wonderful energy in the room and showcase some of the best of our industry.  Both suppliers and peers have so much to offer and each are eager to share.  That is why I say TMP is one of the very best examples of Community over Competition.   I love seeing how many agents and suppliers are fully engaged at TMP events and together we learn and grow personally and professionally.”

What would you say to an agent who has not attended a TMP event before?

“You are missing something special.  Professional development is such a fundamental building block towards success and TMP events serve up so many opportunities at every single event from peers to partners!  Attend, engage and connect, three simple words but a great formula to help each of us grow.  If you are feeling alone, and unsure, trust in the process and come. Sit with other agents, you will be amazed at how supportive they can be and how much each of us has in common.”

Any general comments on TMR Canada and the TMP shows?

“I have never missed a show and every year it’s among the first things that get added to my calendar!”
