“The Turnout and Level of Commitment Stood Out”- Hidar Elmais on the Impact of TMP Events

“The Turnout and Level of Commitment Stood Out”- Hidar Elmais on the Impact of TMP Events

Hildar Elmais, Founder, Travel Gurus.

Planning for the 2026 Travel Market Place (TMP) events in Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary is underway which will see Montreal join the schedule for the very first time!

We spoke with suppliers after our events, and now it’s time to hand the mic to the travel advisors who attended. After all, success is a group effort and we wanted to share what they learned at our TMP events and how important they think the events are to fellow advisors.

Next up is Hidar Elmais, Owner of Travel Gurus.

TMP: How important is it for you to participate in the TMP events across Canada?

Elmais: “Seeing TMP come to Calgary for the second year in a row is truly huge for Alberta travel agents. I’ve said before that I believe TMP is the largest neutral industry event—bringing agents from all companies, consortiums, and regions of the country together in one place to grow, connect, and share real knowledge and experiences.”

Tell us about the quality of suppliers you are seeing at the events.

“I’ve been very impressed with the quality and variety of suppliers attending. Many are brands we don’t often get to see on the western side of Canada, which makes TMP a unique and valuable opportunity for agents to build relationships with suppliers they might not normally have access to.”

What are you most impressed by about the TMP events?

“The turnout and level of commitment from agents really stood out to me. For a relatively new event in this market, the attendance and support have been impressive and speak volumes about the value TMP is delivering.”

What would you say to an agent who has not attended a TMP event before?

“TMP is one of the best events for networking, learning, and relationship-building. Now that it’s in Calgary, it’s incredibly convenient and accessible for Alberta agents—and absolutely worth attending.”

Any general comments on TMR Canada and the TMP shows?

“TMR Canada has an outstanding team that genuinely understands how to connect, grow, and support travel agents at every stage—whether they’re brand new to the industry or seasoned veterans adapting to new technology and evolving their skills.”
