InterContinental The Red Sea Resort has just opened, becoming one of the first properties to debut on Saudi Arabia’s up-and-coming Shura Island. It is among several set to open on the island, in line with the country’s Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at boosting environmentally conscious, luxury tourism in the region.
The 210-room resort, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury collection, is set beside pristine waters, coral reefs, and protected marine life. The property itself boasts coral-inspired architecture, blending modern design with the natural surroundings. Design elements also include curved facades, organic textures, and Saudi artworks, as well as thoughtful biophilia in the guestrooms’ tones, textures, and lighting.
“The opening of InterContinental The Red Sea Resort marks the beginning of a new chapter for guests to explore the Red Sea’s extraordinary beauty,” said Francesco Pantalone, the hotel’s general manager, noting that the property seeks to deliver cherished memories to guests through its refined design, bespoke experiences, and spirit of discovery.
InterContinental The Red Sea Resort features several restaurants, the SPA InterContinental, and Club InterContinental, which offers private check-in and exclusive amenities. The brand’s signature Planet Trekkers children’s and teens club will offer marine-inspired activities at this location, plus multi-level, supervised play areas with a climbing wall, workshops, and a splash park.
The resort’s dining options include Darein, a Levantine-Moroccan restaurant; Chimes, serving Mediterranean tapas; and Murrma, a contemporary dessert parlor. In 2026, culinary concepts will expand with the opening of Ardo, serving South American cuisine, and The 305, a Miami-inspired eatery and cigar lounge.
