New Opening: Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne

Just a few days after Marriot opened its debut Le Méridien property in Australia, Le Méridien Melbourne, the hotel giant is celebrating the opening of another one of its iconic properties, Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, in that same city.

The hotel is located on the west side of the city’s central business district, a few blocks north of the Yarra River, and not far from Marvel Stadium and the Flagstaff Gardens.

It includes 257 guestrooms that Ritz-Carlton describes as “understated and elegant.” Each of the rooms offers city views and features dark wood and simple natural stone inside. The top offering, The Ritz-Carlton Suite, spans the entire length of the building and includes a separate living and dining rooms, a walk-through wardrobe, an in-room sauna, and a private pantry.

Guests can also access the signature Ritz-Carlton Club if they stay in Club Level, which Ritz-Carlton calls their own “private sanctuary.”

For food and drink, there’s the hotel’s signature restaurant Atria, named after the brightest star in the southern constellation. Atria offers “hyper-seasonal” dishes from Chef Michael Greenlaw.

There’s also Cameo, an intimate cocktail bar set high over the city, and The Ritz-Carlton Lobby Lounge, which offers coffee, casual lunches and dinners, and the hotel’s high tea experience.

Elsewhere on property, the new Ritz-Carlton Melbourne includes close to 270,000 sq. ft of meeting space that can be customized for larger or more intimate experiences. That includes a ballroom with 23 ft. high ceilings that can sit up to 550 guests.

“We are thrilled to bring The Ritz-Carlton brand to Melbourne, and to open our second hotel in Australia,” said Tina Edmundson, President, Luxury at Marriott International.

“With its destination-driven design inspired by the city’s past and present, combined with the finest amenities, exciting culinary offerings and highly personalized service, The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne exemplifies our commitment to delivering unparalleled experiences and creating meaningful memories in inspiring cities, the world over.”

Aside from the two new Marriott properties, Melbourne will also be the setting for a new Four Seas, coming in four year, which will be set in the world’s tallest vertical garden.
