IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened a new Hotel Indigo property in Mexico’s 550-acre Puerta Cortés complex.
Hotel Indigo La Paz Puerta Cortés is a 115-room, completely renovated upscale hotel centrally located with access to a golf course and beach club, and strongly inspired by the culture of this up-and-coming Mexican destination.
“A stay at the resort entails becoming part of a vibrant community and fully immersing oneself in the local culture, true to Hotel Indigo’s brand ethos,” Hotel Indigo said in its announcement of the property opening. “The hotel’s sculptures narrate the neighborhood’s story, inspired by the mesmerizing coral reefs found in the Sea of Cortez’s underwater paradise. Guests will also notice design elements throughout the hotel reflecting the Baja desert and sun, with the clever use of lighting, color palettes, and textures.”
The new hotel features Espiritu Spa, a fully equipped gym, an outdoor pool, and two restaurants: Barco and Cardón, which serve Mexican and contemporary international cuisine.
The rooms and suites offer views of the gardens, Gary Player Signature Design golf course, La Paz Bay, and the Sea of Cortez. Guests can take advantage of the hotel’s proximity to one of Mexico’s finest marinas, as well as the Puerto Beach Club, which offers everything from beachside massages to thrilling watersports to fresh seafood meals.
A large draw to this destination is the Sea of Cortez, which was coined the “aquarium of the world” by underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau. It hosts hundreds of fish species and a third of the world’s marine animals, including orcas, sea lions, giant manta rays, and whale sharks. Guests can enjoy swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling here.
