Ruby Hotels, one of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ newest lifestyle brands, is set to make its United States debut in a restored historic property in downtown Chicago.
After a thorough renovation of the Inn of Chicago, the hotel will reopen as a Ruby Hotel sometime in 2027. Construction is slated to begin in the latter half of 2026.
The announcement comes less than a year after IHG acquired Ruby Group, a Europe-based lifestyle hospitality company founded in Germany in 2013. Now, under a 30-year franchise agreement, the Chicago property will be the first of many new Ruby Hotels to come.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring our first U.S. Ruby Hotel to Chicago, an iconic city with a deep architectural and cultural legacy,” said Jolyon Bulley, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts in the Americas. “This flagship signing underscores the brand’s strong growth potential and momentum in key locations across the Americas and around the world.”
The 22-story hotel will feature 412 guest rooms, a reimagined lobby and bar area, updated public spaces, a rooftop terrace and bar, and guestrooms with efficient layouts. The landmark 1920s era property is located just one block from Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
