Ruby Hotels to Open Second U.S. Property in New York City
by Briana Bonfiglio
Ruby Hotels, IHG Hotels & Resorts’ newest urban lifestyle brand, just signed on a new property in New York City, its second signing in the United States.
The hotel conversion will begin later this year, with Ruby New York City expected to open in 2027. AC Developers will be the owners, with Aimbridge Hospitality overseeing operations. The news comes after Ruby Hotels signed on its first U.S. property in Chicago in February; that property is also set to open in 2027.
“Ruby’s arrival in New York City reflects our momentum in bringing the brand’s distinctive experience and flexible model to major U.S. urban markets,” said Jolyon Bulley, CEO, Americas for IHG. “With two properties now planned in iconic, gateway cities, we’re just beginning to unlock Ruby’s growth potential. We also look forward to building on our longstanding relationship with the team at AC Developers to make New York’s first Ruby a must-stay destination.”
After major renovations of the historic 18-story, 1930s-era building, Ruby New York City will feature 187 guest rooms with modern comforts and a 24/7 lobby bar serving guests and locals alike. The property’s location on Avenue of the Americas put it steps from iconic landmarks such as Herald Square, the Empire State Building, and Madison Square Garden.
Last year, IHG acquired Ruby Group, a Europe-based lifestyle hospitality company founded in Germany in 2013, and is now expanding the brand in the U.S. At the same time, the brand continues to grow in Europe with a planned hotel in Belgium and new hotels in Germany and Italy. There are currently 40 total Ruby hotels, counting both open properties and those in the pipeline.
