Intrepid Travel is adding two new hotels to its growing portfolio as it expands its commitment to responsible travel beyond tours and into accommodations.
The first property is Edge of the Bay in Tasmania, a 20-room resort in Coles Bay that originally opened in 1980. Intrepid plans to refresh the hotel with its “impact-led ethos” and introduce educational programs on-site in partnership with Greening Australia.
The second is a 17-room riad in Marrakech, located just five minutes from the city’s medina. Acquired from a private owner, the riad will be fully operated by Intrepid starting in July 2025. In collaboration with the local nonprofit Amal Association, the property will offer immersive culinary experiences, echoing the educational focus seen in its Tasmanian counterpart.
With these two additions, Intrepid’s hotel portfolio now totals four properties—including the Daintree Ecolodge in Australia and a hotel in Hoi An, Vietnam, which Intrepid began leasing in 2023.
The company has set a goal of operating 20 properties by 2027, all of which will be available independently of its tour offerings. According to Intrepid, plans to reach that target are already underway across Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
